Housing market 'is slowly improving'

The housing market is showing tentative signs of recovery but there
is still a long way to go, according to one industry expert.
Simon Preston, chairman of iammoving.com, commented that the
housing sector is improving after what has been a difficult 18
months for the industry.
"We've all had to adjust our business models to deliver good
services in a much harsher environment and we hope we will continue
to make progress in 2010/2011 and beyond," he said.
However, he cautioned people who are, in his view, being overly
optimistic about the state of the property sector.
Mr Preston stressed that the road to recovery will be slow but
added that as confidence returns to the market, conditions will
also improve.
Figures released on December 10th by the Council of Mortgage
Lenders (CML) indicated that the housing market is on the up.
According to CML data, the number of loans advanced to house buyers
has risen by 140 per cent since January 2009.
